Introduction

The HORIBA U-50 Series is a rugged, field-ready range of multi-parameter water quality checkers designed to measure and display multiple water quality parameters using a single integrated probe. Depending on the model, it measures pH, ORP, dissolved oxygen (DO), conductivity, salinity, total dissolved solids (TDS), seawater specific gravity, temperature, turbidity and water depth, with GPS functionality available on selected models.

Designed for demanding field conditions, the U-50 Series combines reliable measurements, convenient one-touch operation, automatic calibration functions and data storage for up to 10,000 datasets. Whether you are monitoring rivers, groundwater, wastewater or industrial water systems, the U-50 Series helps simplify field testing and water quality assessment.

Which model do you need?

Model Key features and applications
HORIBA U-51 Multi-parameter water quality checker for pH, ORP, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, salinity, TDS, seawater specific gravity and temperature. Ideal for routine water quality monitoring where turbidity and water depth measurement are not required.
HORIBA U-52 Includes the U-50 Series core measurement parameters, plus LED-based turbidity measurement. Suitable for environmental monitoring and water quality surveys requiring turbidity analysis.
HORIBA U-52G Combines the U-52 measurement capabilities with GPS positioning and water depth measurement. Ideal for field surveys where measurement locations need to be recorded.
HORIBA U-53 Features the core multi-parameter measurements, tungsten-lamp turbidity measurement and a turbidity wiper to help maintain measurement stability. Also supports water depth measurement. Suitable for demanding environmental water monitoring.
HORIBA U-53G Combines the U-53 features with GPS positioning. Designed for comprehensive field surveys requiring multi-parameter measurements, turbidity monitoring, water depth and geographical location recording.

Why choose the HORIBA U-50 Series?

  • Multiple parameters, one probe: Measure several important water quality parameters simultaneously, reducing the need to carry multiple separate instruments.
  • Built for fieldwork: The rugged sensor probe is waterproof to a maximum depth of 30 metres, making it suitable for a wide range of field sampling applications.
  • Convenient operation: One-touch automatic calibration, an intuitive interface and a backlit LCD display support efficient field measurements.
  • Reliable data management: Store up to 10,000 datasets and transfer measurement records to a computer through USB connectivity.
  • GPS-enabled options: The U-52G and U-53G models support location recording for environmental surveys and geographical water quality assessments.
  • Enhanced turbidity monitoring: The U-53 and U-53G feature a turbidity sensor with a wiper to help reduce measurement interference caused by deposits on the sensor.

Applications

  • Environmental monitoring of rivers, lakes, streams and surface water
  • Groundwater quality assessment and monitoring
  • Municipal drinking water and wastewater treatment
  • Industrial process water and effluent monitoring
  • Coastal water and marine environmental surveys
  • Aquaculture, fisheries and water resource management
  • Environmental impact assessments and field research
  • Water quality surveys requiring GPS location records
